Ray Kennedy *********** Ray Kennedy is know as the "High-teck hillbilly" ,singer-guitarist Ray Kennedy [Born in Buffalo,N.Y.] is one of country music's more versatile and creative personalities. Prior to becoming a naturalized Nashvillian in the early 80's, Ray Kennedy rode the drifter's trail, living in Massachusetts, on the Virginia shore, in the Oregon mountains and in Vermont. He rode motorcyle escort for funerals by day, while working the club circuit by night. His father, Ray Sr. was a vice president with Sears, and was responsible for creating the Discover Card. In 1980 Ray Kennedy arrived in Nashville with plans to become a top songwriter. Within 6 months he had a song, "The Same Old Girl", cut by John Anderson. He signed a writer's contract with Tree Music and had more cuts by Charlie Pride, David Allen Coe and T.Graham Brown. This enabled him to build his own studio, where he churned out radio and TV jingles as well as demos of his own songs, while also working as a session musician and singer. His studio has also been used by many diverse artists, including Kevin Welch, T.Graham Brown, Diamond Rio, Michelle Wright, Stevie Nicks and Dude Mowery. With his black leather jackets and rockabilly look, Ray Kennedy doesn't quite fit the standard image of a country singer. But, in 1989 he signed a recording contact with Atlantic, his debut CD, "What A Way To Go", being a almost totally solo affair with Ray Kennedy arranging, producing, and playing all instuments (except pedal steel guitar & dobro guitar). He also wrote, or co-wrote, all the songs. The title track became a Top 10 single in 1990. Since then, Ray Kennedy has scored minor hits with "Scars" [1991] and "No Way Jose" [1992] Ray Kennedy Discography *********************** Ray Kennedy - What A Way To Go (1990) Atlantic/Warner 7 82109-2 Ray Kennedy - Guitar Man (1992) Atlantic/Warner 7 82422-2
